I've had a couple requests lately to post pictures of our deck that we finished last year. I sketched an idea of what I wanted it to look like. I love Japanese influenced outdoor design. I fell like its intricate and modern without being to fussy. I really wanted sunburst sides and planter boxes that were built into the design. I also really wanted a pergola that I cold hang lanterns from for different holidays. I adore my deck and the fact that I can entertain a lot of people on it. My Brother in law and my dad came up to help build it for me- what awesome guys! I sure love them. Anyways heres the before and afters. We're going to stain it this year- any suggestions on a color?

The 4th of July pillow was made using an Ikea Pillow cover and Ijust took felt cut the pieces and adhered them with iron on adhesive-I love doing this for every holiday making apillow that matches my decor- and its super cheap to do-
about 6 bucks for pillow cover and 2 bucks for felt!

Your deck looks amazing! The sunburst sides add so much interest. We're hoping to add a larger outdoor space to our backyard sometime in the next year, and we may DIY too. The lanterns are so cute!
Your deck and perogla look fantastic. Love your furniture and decor. Such a clever idea for the pillow! Hope you have a wonderful holiday! Stephanie Lynn

Have a wonderful evening!
I think a dark color would look nice. A mahogany color. Or maybe match the fence?
Looks awesome! I love the sunbursts on the wall.
