Romancing Juliet

I recently Found a shop online called romancing juliet that has some beautiful - very different bridal wear- For those brides who still want to be covered up or have a distinct victorian look this shop is for you- and may I add at a very reasonable price! Her stuff is delicate and beautiful! So I thought Id do a quick interview with her...Hope you enjoy!

What inspired you to do bridal wear?:
Well, I would have to say my own wedding inspired me. It may come as a suprise but I did very little DIY for my own wedding. After it was all said and done I looked at what was spent on certain things and decided I wanted to help other brides. I actually just learned to sew in December of 2008. So it's been about a year, but a busy year! I took every book out of the library I could find to learnt he craft and scoured every bridal magazine for the current trends. I really got into creating for brides once my son was born and I quit working. I feel that this is my calling, to help brides create their "chic" weddings for less!

What are your favorite things to make?
It's hard to pin point my favorite thing to create. This whole operation started with ring pillows and grew from there. So, if I had to pick something I would choose the ring bearer pillow, it started it all. I have crafted several different designs unique to RomancingJuliet Bridal. Most recently I created a silk ring bearer pillow with an alencon lace overlay which was also hand beaded with alencon lace. That is my favorite thus far!

Whats the most interesting thing you've made for a bride?
The most intresting thing I have created for a bride is a "tux skirt". It was made to be part of the "reception outfit". It was created using 300 yards of top quality bridal tulle with a black taffeta overlay and a peek-a-boo front with a large taffeta floppy bow. It sounds WILD but it turned out fantastic!

What gives you inspiration for what you design?
Nature is my biggest inspiration. It's beautiful and inspires me to create beauftiful things. I love the different shades of blue the sky turns at different times of day, I love how the shade of brown can differ dramatically from bark, to soil to fall leaves... It gives me so many color ideas for my creations! You're getting into this in the next question but I think that's the biggest trend in weddings right now. Natural things, I mean.

In your opinion whats a hot trend in Bridal fashion right now?
I kind of got into this in the last question, but, I think natural "rustic" is the hottest bridal fashion right now. I have created burlap hair combs and bolero's for brides. (satin lined ofcourse) I specialize in burlap ring pillows and baskets and they're a very hot seller. With everything being "eco-friendly" these days, brides want to incorporate that into their weddings! The number 1 decorating item for weddings in my experience this year? Preserved REAL Sheet moss. As far s the spring, I think the veils are going to be quite different. I predict brides will go back to raw tulle for their veils being worn around the head like a cap and left long and flowing...Mark my words :-)
